Her next book in the series, "The Very Lonely Garden" is now available! It is available in both paperback and hardcover versions. Perfect for a gift anytime of the year. Take a look inside!
"The Very Lonely Garden" is a wonderful feel good story that stars a pet dragon and is also a lovely nature theme. All of the illustrations in the book come from a single painting that Virginia created at The Montessori School of Greater Hartford during an art residency.
Virginia offers programs with the book that are wonderful for schools, libraries and other organisations. Contact Virginia to arrange a program or book signing event.
Virginia also is now on the roster as a teaching artist with Young Audiences of Connecticut / VSA Arts Her "Paint me a Storybook"programs and her " Arts Express" programs are dynamic ways to fully engage students through arts integrated She is in the directory, so you can find her program descriptions there.
Check out the book review in the November issue of the "Hartford" magazine written by Marion Dooling: "West Hartford resident Virginia Lynn Anderson is an artist, storyteller and musician. Her first in a planned series of books, "The Flying Phlox" focuses on a flower's amazing adventures of sight and sound as it flies around enjoying the rhythm of life in the garden and surrounding fields. Based on a single painting, Anderson's book is full of the music and sounds of a garden and is sure to delight any young reader or listener." Thank you, Marion!
Here is a wonderful book review from Carolyn Sterns: "My garden is full of Phlox right now and it seemed a good time to tell you about "The Flying Phlox" a storybook by Virginia Lynn Anderson....The artwork in this book is stunning and is sure to help create a love of art as well as story. This is a really nice classroom book because the art is big and bold and can be seen by everyone sitting in circle time, but I would give it to any gardener on my gift list, as well as children. You can order copies of the book right from Virginia's website via a shopping cart page so hurry and order one of Connecticut's newest books! Pot up some Phlox from your garden and give it to a new family on your street with a copy of the book. I can't think of a nicer way to say welcome to the neighborhood!"
