27" diameterVirginia receives commissions to paint Native American shields from individuals for their personal use, or as gifts for others. The creation of a shield painting is a visionary process and begins when Virginia receives the name of the person receiving the painting. She then enters into a meditative process with the intent of receiving a vision for a painting. The vision received is then translated into a unique painting that depicts spiritual guides, totems and metaphoric images that are significant for that person. Most individuals who commission a painting find that when meditating upon the painting other images reveal themselves. The paintings are living works of art in this way.
Pricing ranges from $250 for a small single image to $500 for a 24" to 30" shield with multiple images. Virginia also offers shield making workshops for those individuals who are interested in creating their own shield, or gift shield.
